Butler City Council met in regular session on May 3, 2021 at City Hall.  There were several important items on the agenda including the first reading of the of the Alcohol Ordinance, first reading of the Swimming Pool Ordinance and setting a special meeting on Monday, May 10th to have the second and final reading of these two ordinances with vote.
The city purchased a 2005 dump truck with snow plow and spreader from Boone County for $4000.
A Resolution reading of hazardous mitigation was read and passed which authorized Mayor McElfresh to execute the Regional Hazardous Mitigation Plan through FEMA.  This will allow the city of Butler a working relationship between all participating Jurisdictions in the development and implementation of the NKADD plan and agrees to accept the plan.
Camera work on Mill Street was completed which covered Matilda to Main Streets.  Kentucky engineers are working to resolve water line problems.  Requests are going out for street signs bids for the city with having them installed.
The city has decided to take silent bids on a city owned 1999 maroon Silverado because repairs are too expensive. Bids will be from May 3 – June 7 in which all bids may be rejected if too low.
The City of Butler will receive the amount $53,776 in 2021 from the American Relief Fund will and the same amount in 2022.  The doors on the Community Building which had been hit by a car a while back have been on order for 10 months and have still not arrived.  The mayor will check the possibility of finding an alternative vendor and canceling the old order. The furnace work at the community center should be complete sometime this week.
There have been far too many young children running the streets at night. These children will be picked up and taken home and the parents or guardians will be talked to as a first step. A friend of council took a 2 year old home before council meeting Tuesday night.  Please bring your child in at curfew.
There will be a city wide yard sale on the first Saturday in June this year.
Mayor McElfresh will be acquiring two dumpsters for use by the city of Butler.
