1. What is the #1 issue that you feel is vital for the House of Representatives to address and what is your stance on that issue?

First and foremost, I think we need to address the issue of unity.  As a nation we have become unbelievably divided and polarized; it is essential we return to a unified nation and we work together on the issues we do agree on rather than remaining divided on the few points on which we disagree.  Until we accompish unity and working across the aisle, we can get very little accomplished.  Once we come together as a nation, I believe the first issue we need to address is healthcare.  For too long, our healthcare system as been overpriced and inadequate to serve most Americans well.  We must get to a heathcare system which prioritizes preventative care and that is affordable and accesible to all Americans.  I will work every day when elected to make sure all Americans have access to better, more affordable healthcare.

2. If we look back in history, we see politicians and national leaders inspiring. It has not been that way for couple decades in this country and BOTH parties are guilty of the divide. How can we get back to a time that our national leaders can inspire our country?

By electing moderates and people who are truly willing to work across the aisle, we can bridge that divide. My Republican friends and I agree on 90% of things... that 10% of issues we don’t agree on, we are able to disagree civilly and not let those issues interfere in our relationships. If we put people in Congress that can disagree with people across the aisle but also respect them we will begin to see civility restored. When I am elected, I promise to be a voice for the Republicans in my district as well as the Democrats.  The job of a Representative has ALWAYS been to be a voice for ALL people in their district, not just themselves and the people who agree with their own biased views. This is one of the many reasons why I make it a point to travel the district and meet with constituents on a regular basis. When we stop listening to the people around us, we stop being able to be a voice for them.

3. Health Care has been and will continue to be a main issue in this country. What do you see specifically as the role that government needs to play in health care? Should pre-existing conditions be covered?

Pre-existing conditions absolutely need to be covered and we need to fix our broken healthcare system. I believe it is essential as a nation we get to a single-payer system. I am, also, very mindful of the fact the government has traditionally been a poor steward of running systems. Healthcare is too important to risk having a subar system. That being said, I believe we have to allow people to keep their private insurance while we build the national system to the point where it is so strong that no one would want private insurance because the government system is so superior.
