The local QRT (Quick-Responce Team) that was launched in Pendleton County last year to help combat the fight against drugs while providing help for users has seen continued positive results this year.
According to former Falmouth mayor April DeFalco, who played a big part in establishing the program in Pendleton County, the numbers show that it has been successful thus far.
“The number of total overdoses as well as narcan kits distributed have been down. And over half of the people who have been arrested this year are doing well now,” she noted.
QRT is made up of local volunteers along with the help of local police officers. Their conjoined effort is to provide a diversion program to those arrested for minor drug-related charges and work towards getting them into rehabilitation rather than be faced with jail time.
