Pendleton County High School student AJ Redden achieved his dream as he was selected for the Northern Kentucky University (NKU) Co-Ed Cheer Team.

“I am so excited to make the NKU cheer team. I felt like I wasn’t done learning and wanted to continue my cheer career,” Redden shared. “Being a member of a team, is a great way to make friends, and I enjoy the competitions and working to get better.”

As a member of this Division I squad, Redden will be cheering at both the Norse men’s and women’s NCAA basketball games. In addition to game-day cheering, the team will work for a bid to compete at the UCA National Cheer Competition. Redden will take on the responsibility of executing co-ed stunts and serving as a backspot to ensure the safety and stability of the team's stunts.

Redden was a member of the co-ed cheer team at PCHS for four years. As a member of the team, he earned a bid to the KHSAA state competition two times and to UCA Nationals three times. He will balance his athletic schedule with academics as he works to achieve a degree in physics engineering.
