Cincinnati — Ercil Bernard Vanlandingham, “Benny,” 88, of Cincinnati, (formerly born and raised Falmouth resident) passed away June 5, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred (Millie) Vanlandingham.

Benny was father of Ronnie (Angie), Andy (Sally) and Dan (Debbie) Vanlandingham, and the late Laura Deaton and Donald Vanlandingham. A beloved grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  A stepfather to 7 children, 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was a brother to Joyce Beckett of Falmouth, Kentucky and 5 late siblings that preceded him.      

Benny served his country from 1956 to 1960, working as a B47 bomber crew chief in the Air Force having told of being on a B-52 bomber over London.

During his residence years in Falmouth, he served the community with a Chevron service station, over 10 years, on highway 27 from the mid 70’s till 1987 having added a wrecker towing service in 1977. Service to the community was extended to the Falmouth police force for multiple years, while also serving the community voluntary fire department multiple years during operating years of the Chevron station.

One of his major personal achievements was acquiring a solo airplane flight license and his greatest stories were told speaking of his travel experiences hauling steel, mail and other goods across the entire country as a regional OTR truck driver after his service in the Airforce.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, at Peoples Funeral Home, in Butler, with military honors to follow at the funeral home.

Graveside services will immediately follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Anderson at 8139 Beechmont Ave Cincinnati, OH 45255.
