25 Years Ago - October 3, 1995

    Falmouth Dairy Queen earns awards from International Dairy Queen, Inc. The Falmouth location earned the Dairy Queen Silver Brazier Full and Silver Yogurt awards for the fiscal year 1994. Edward Wtson, executive vice president of operations said, “We are proud of the hard work and dedication of the owners, managers, and staff at the Falmouth store.
    Star Bank held a ribbon cutting to dedicate their new and improved facility. The office has been at its current location since 1979.
    New at Hardee’s the Big Hardee with cheese 66% more beef than a Big Mac, 33% more beef than a Whopper! Lots of hot juicy taste!
    Through the month of November DECA will be selling Win-Win cards. The cards may be used for discounts at the following businesses: Hometown Pizza, Subway, Hardee’s, Pizza Factory, Lemmon’s Jewelry, Simpson’s Country Kitchen, Falmouth Floral, IGA, Wyatts, McQuick Oil Lube, Buckskin Bev’s, Funky Dunks Sports of All Sports, Houchen’s Clothes and Shoes, Ameristop, and Media Play.
    Kincaid Bassmaster’s to host Kentucky B.A.S.S. Federation Tournament at Big Bone State Park Boat ramp. This is the first time a state tournament will be held in Northern Kentucky. Fifty of Kentucky’s top bass fisherman will be competing for one of the 12 positions on the Kentucky B.A.S.S. Federation 1996 State Team.

50 Years Ago - September 25, 1970

    Congressman Gene Snyder announced that he has received a report from the Corps of Engineers in regard to the Falmouth Reservoir project. The congressman expressed optimism that after over 35 years this project was finally getting underway.
    Announcing the arrival of a beautiful daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry England of Pendleton Street. The little girl was born in St. Luke Hospital on September 19 and has been named Julie Donn. The father is awaiting orders to National Guard active duty.
    Mrs. Helen Thornberry passed away Tuesday, September 15, 1970 at Pendleton County Hospital. Her home was at 220 Main Street, Falmouth.
    John C. Hamilton, son of the late Addison and Nancy Ann Casey Hamilton was born in Pendleton County on November 1, 1893 and passed away on Sunday, September 20, 1970.

75 Years Ago - September 28, 1945

    Seven Pendleton County men passed their physical examinations at Louisville on Tuesday, September 11. They are  Harold Wright Holmes, Everett Leslie Adams, Clarence Junior Bishop, Kinsley Edward Fossett, Maynard Andrews Stephens, Howard Richaard Bowen, and Robert William Hall. Leader of the group going last week was Mr. Holmes, while the assistant leader was Mr. Fossett.
    Mr. and Mrs. Teddie Spegal of DeMossville are entertaining a new daughter, born September 4. She has been naned Edna Marie
    Mr. and Mrs. Corlis LaFollette receiving congratulations upon the arrival  of a fine 8 1/2 lb. son at their home on September 3. This is the fourth heir, all boys. He will answer to the name Robert Allen.
    Mr. amd Mrs. Lee Griffith of Simpsonville announce the birth of a son, Jerold David, on September 4. The little man weighed 8 lbs. 13 oz.

100 Years Ago - October 2, 1920

    Adam Brell, beloved husband of the late Louisiana Bell (nee Daugherty) passed away Tuesday, September 14, at his home near Gardnersville, Pendleton County, at the age of 76 years.
    Elijah Jenkins passed away Friday, September 17, 1920 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Jenkins, near Four Oaks.
    Born to the wife of James Ernest on September 14, a fine 12 pound son, Roy Thomas.
    Born to the wife of Elijah Fields on September 3, an 8 pound daughter. She will be known by the name of Martha Fern.
    The passing of Dr. J. B. Beckett of Fort Thomas on September 11, has cast a shadow of gloom over a very wide circle of friends, who feel themselves indeed poorer by the loss of one who combined rare public and social gifts with a devout, general and unassuming Christian character.
