FRANKFORT — Citizen Foster Care Review Boards in 69 counties — including Pendleton — need volunteers to review the cases of local children in foster care and make recommendations, according to the Administrative Office of the Courts.

The surrounding counties of Bracken, Campbell, Harrison and Kenton also have openings.

Thousands of children are placed in foster and other out-of-home care each year in the commonwealth, according to Jim Hannah, Kentucky Courts communications director. Court-appointed volunteer teams conduct reviews on the children and make recommendations to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services on the child’s behalf for necessary services and safe homes.

Volunteers generally review cases one day a month, Hannah said.
