Last week we informed you of our annual homecoming on Sunday August 30th at 11:00 am. Following is a little information regarding our guest speaker Dr. Dwayne Norman.

Dr. Dwayne Norman became the Assistant to the Executive Director for Convention Relations at the Kentucky Baptist Convention in 2026. Prior to joining the convention staff, he served as a Senior Pastor for 23 years in Mississippi, Alabama, and most recently serving as pastor of Campbellsville Baptist Church in Campbellsville, Kentucky, for 7 years.

Dwayne has a Bachelor of Art in Religion from the University of Mobile, Master of Divinity with an Emphasis in Biblical Languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Work from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Dwayne also took several PhD classes in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.

Additionally, Dwayne has experience as an adjunct instructor of Old Testament, New Testament, and the Mission and Message of Jesus in 4 different colleges in Mississippi, Alabama, and Kentucky. Dwayne has also served as a chaplain for the men’s basketball teams at Troy University and Campbellsville University. Dwayne, and his wife, Mandy, and their children Maddie, Brad, Lindsey, and Natalie, reside Campbellsville, Ky. Also, remember special music will be provided by Jeff Doan we hope to see you there!

Mt. Gilead

Services at Mount Gilead Church are planned for every 4th Sunday, at 2 p.m.

Our free breakfast from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. every Sunday is yummy. Sunday school follows at 10 a.m., with morning worship at 11.

Coming 6 p.m. Sept. 6, Bryan Hutson, former lead singer for Southern Gospel Hall of Fame group the Kingsmen Quartet, will be in concert. You won't want to miss him.

The annual Gideon Banquet is set for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and the Pendleton County Cooperative of Churches' annual Old-Fashioned Gospel Hymn Sing will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Griffin Centre at the Pendleton County Fairgrounds in Falmouth.

Oakland Christian

Using Mark 10:46-52 as text, Bro. Kevin reminded us of blind Bartimeus who had asked Jesus for mercy.  He didn't ask for healing.  We should remember to ask Jesus for mercy.  He takes care of the rest.

Ladies Bible Study is Wednesday, August 26 at 7 p.m.

Next Lord's Day will be our Youth Sunday, always a blessing.

Bro. Kenny Speakes will be speaking in our morning worship, September 6.

Remember the Women's Gathering at Camp Northward, September 11-12.

Our Revival is coming September 11-13 with Evan Meyer as Evangelist.  Special music each evening at 6:30, then during the morning worship also.

Bro. Mark’s message was from John 9:1-12. As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man blind from birth. The disciples asked was it results of his parent’s sins or his own. Jesus answered neither. But to demonstrate the power of God, we must carry out the tasks assigned to us by the one who sent me. Jesus spat on the ground and made mud from the spittle and smoothed it onto the eyes of the blind man.  Told him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. The man went and did as he said and came back seeing. All wanted to know what happened. A man they call Jesus did this.  This was love for another.

All My Hope, our opening song Sunday morning, where is your hope? Don’t let it be in earthly things, our hope should be in an eternity with Jesus Christ.

The children’s message, The Greatest Gift of All from John 3:16, tells of the best gift ever! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, …”

Presley Platt read Ephesians 2:8-9; the Praise team sang, Yet Not I but through Christ in Me, followed by Bro. Dale’s message, Christ In You from Colossians 1:27. The message had four points – the Gifts of Grace, Life, Freedom and Hope, and scripture to support these points. To have Christ in You, the Holy Spirit living in you, can only be obtained by the ABC’s of salvation; Admit you are a sinner, Believe in Jesus Christ, and Confess Him as Lord of your life.
