Local officials advise county to plan ahead for the first major ice storm in over 12 years

Emergency Management Director Mike Moore and Judge/Executive David Fields advise the county to be ready for the storm that has the potential to bring nearly a half inch of ice to the area and heavy, wet snow on top of that before it exits some time Friday.

Taylor and Dennison extend thanks to Wool Fest parking crews

For many years, the Pendleton High School band and parents parked cars at the Wool Fest. The assignment was a fundraiser for the band, and the money raised helped offset the cost for needs the band had.
This year, those who parked were not the usual crew.

A semi full of planks headed to Napier Pallet overturned at the bottom of the hill at State HWY 177 and Butler-Greenwood Road Thursday morning, August 5, dumping lumber over a large area, including into the creek and over a private bridge, less than a mile from his destination.

The county was buzzing Monday afternoon as an unusual PCEMA alert went out via text: An emu (a large ostrich-like bird) is along the road at the intersection of HWY 22W and HWY 1054. If you know of an emu owner in that area, please call Pendleton County Dispatch at 859-654-3300.
