Red, black and white have adorned the gym at Pendleton County High School since the early 1960s, but the county politically has been a blue county. Not University of Kentucky blue, although that claim could be made, too, but rather the blue of the Democrat Party.
In early September, the county officially became a red county of the Republican Party.
According to County Clerk Rita Spencer on Thursday, September 17, Pendleton County has 10,614 registered voters.
It breaksdown to 4,925 Republicans and 4,751 Democrats as the two major party affliations.
There are 581 registered voters designated as other with 308 labeled as Independent.
The Libertarian Party has 39 registered voters. The Constitutional Party stands at seven, and Green Party has two registered Pendleton County voters.
Pendleton County has seen an increase in registered voters over the past twelve months.
“Last November, there were 10,418 registered voters, and we have 10,614 registered voters. That is an increase of about 200 voters,” said Spencer.
