25 Years Ago - July 20, 1999A 30-year-old Falmouth woman was murdered July 17 in her Chapel Street apartment.Kelly Taylor’s body was discovered by police officer Marty Hart when he and other Falmouth police responded to a domestic violence complaint at the residence just before 2 a.m.

25 Years Ago - July 6, 1999Butler city employee John Hamilton was attempting to change a 150-pound chlorine cylinder at the Butler Water Plant on June 30 when a valve on the cylinder broke, creating a leak. The leak forced an evacuation of 30 to 50 people in the area of the Mill Street operation.

25 Years Ago - June 29, 1999Pendleton County Fiscal Court agreed to allow the Pendleton County Ambulance Service to purchase a new ambulance in the next fiscal year.Ambulance Administrator Phillip Hart appeared before the court to see what type of ambulance to put out bid specs on.

25 Years Ago - June 22, 1999About 30 mailboxes were damaged or destroyed during a vandalism spree over the past several weeks. Most of the vandalism has occurred along Route 159, Lenoxburg Road, Loop Road and Oak Hill Road, according to Deputy Sheriff Todd Dennie.

25 Years Ago - June 15, 1999Pendleton County Fiscal Court scrapped its plans to construct a 75-bed jail, and voted June 9 to build a 30-bed jail instead.Jim Roseberry made the motion for the county to build a 30-bed jail with capabilities of enhancement, if possible, as needed.
