A train derailment occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10 near the old depot in Falmouth. Emergency crews from throughout the county have responded. The entire city has been shut down at this time due to a possible hazardous leak. It will remain this way to a HAZMAT team has arrived.

Morehead State University’s Steven Middleton, instructor of mass communication, has created a documentary, “Commonwealth Curiosities: An Ode to Kentucky’s Unique Attractions Volume Two,” which will air on the Kentucky Educational Television (KET) family of networks in July.

At press night on Friday, July 8, for the summer production of “Footloose, The Musical”, Shirley Merrill, general manager of Kincaid Regional Theater (KRT), stated unequivocally, “Baring the total collapse of KRT, we are here to stay in Pendleton County.” That is great news for the community.

Rain put quite a damper on the City of Butler’s Fourth of July fireworks display last Sunday, July 3 when it caused the annual event to be washed out and postponed.

Pendleton County Wildcat Athletic Parents won first place honors in this year’s Fourth of July Parade in Falmouth. Their float had youth football players and cheerleaders dressed in their uniforms. Photo by Jackie Vaughn.

The City of Falmouth held its annual Fourth of July parade and festivities on Saturday, July 2 in downtown Falmouth. A  great crowd was in attendance to watch the patriotic procession and enjoy the afternoon’s events. This year’s theme was “The Way We Were” with 50s-60s related  subject matter.
