The Pendleton County Ladycats improved to 5-7 on the season following a pair of wins that included a lopsided defeat of district rival Nicholas County on Senior Night.

The team began its week with a April 16 matchup at Mason County and pulled out a 7-5 win. Pendleton County put together a four-run effort in the sixth inning to take the lead for good as Avery Himes singled in a run and Mason County pitching would walk three additional runs in. Freshman Hannah Spaulding and eighth grader Jessa Gerhardstein collected two hits each and Spaulding also struke out 10 hitters while pitching.

On April 17, the Ladycats hosted Nicholas County on Senior Night. Prior to the start of the game, the trio of Maddy Musk, Avery Himes and Reagan Anderson would be recognized along with their families before a large crowd at Moreland Field. Once the game got underway, Pendleton County needed little time in asserting themselves over the competition as the rolled to a 15-0 blowout win that was called after three innings. The Ladycats pounded out 13 hits as Spaulding, Gerhardstein, Musk, Mylie Honnert and Aubrey Mullins all had two hits each. Anderson along with Himes and Madison Verst drove in two runs each. Hannah Spaulding needed just 28 pitches to collect the win as she did not allow a hit on base runner in her three innings of work.

Following the win, team head coach Jessica Verst had this to say about her senior leaders:

"All three of them have a very bright future ahead of them. They all have made an impact on the program and in the community. They are great kids and we can't wait to see what they do in the future. They have helped build this program to what it is today. I am excited to continue to see them lead our young team the rest of the way," Verst said.

The Ladycats concluded their week at Campbell County on April 19 and were defeated 16-9 in a game that featured plenty of offense. The Lady Camels used an eight-run third inning to take a big lead that they would not surrender. Pendleton County's offense was led by Spaulding as she went 3-4 at the plate with a home run and four runs driven in. Madison Verst doubled twice and also finished 3-4 at the plate.

This week, the Ladycats have a daunting schedule that has them slated for over a half dozen games. The team will have back to back home games on April 25 and 26 as they battle Scott High followed by district foe Harrison County.
