PCHS Track hosts GOWP Meet

Haley Rounds races toward the finish line, finishing third  in the 100M hurdles.

Each year, the GOWP is hosted and track athletes from four schools compete in track and field events.  G (Grant County), O (Owen County), W (Walton Verona) and P (Pendleton County) is a chance for these four schools to test their mettle against each other.

Walton won both the boys and girls events with PC finishing third in both.  Owen County was second and Grant finished fourth.

Boys tennis team picks up win

The Pendleton County High School tennis team took on St. Patrick this past week.

The boys team won with victories from Michael Antrobus, Trey Roseberry, and the doubles team of Clay Thompson and Kyle Ruber, who are now 2-1.

Runs not coming easy for Wildcats

Senior Brady Purdy uses his sweeping curveball to keep the batters off balance. The Cats play district rival Nicholas County on Wednesday.

Over the first eleven games of the season, the Wildcats scored 66 runs and was averaging six runs per game, winning four games. With scoring, came confidence on the field and in the batter’s box. Big points for a young team that field four key seniors but also rely on four sophomores in key positions on the field and in the lineup.

NCAA March Madness Contest Print E-mail

Well, it's down to Louisville and Michigan in the championship game of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. As reported last week though, The Falmouth Outlook and Edwardo's Pizza & Subs March Madness Contest is over!

Linda Gregg earned the top spot and currently has 76 points.  Gary Oliver has now secured second place and has a total of 67 points.

Looking for good school coaches Print E-mail

Each year, there is a transition as schools are looking for high-quality coaches to lead the athletes of their school. Pendleton County is no different and both PCHS and Sharp Middle School have openings in a variety of sports.

They are searching for coaches at Sharp for volleyball, cross country, cheerleading and basketball.  At PCHS, there are openings for girls basketball and cross country.

If you are seeking to apply, contact Pendleton County Central Office for an application.

 
Ladycats fall to 0-2 with loss at Fairview

It's been a frustrating start to the softball season for the Ladycats for a number of reasons that range from bad weather to bad play on the diamond.

The uncooperative early spring weather has been quite the thorn in the side of the team, as just two scheduled games have actually been played out of a possible seven. Finding time to get a quality practice session has also been a challenge for first-yearhead coach Steven Peed.

NJROTC cadets march in Reds Opening Day Parade

The PCHS Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets marched in the 2013 Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade on April 1. Chilly winds and temperatures did not deter the marchers and spectators. PCHS cadets were the only JROTC unit to march in this year’s parade.

Cats glad for the warm weather

Senior Jacob Partin looks to drive a pitch in the National Guard Spring Break Bash at Warren Central in Bowling Green.

So far this baseball season, it has mostly consisted of practices in a gym, too few and infrequent games and snow/cold weather.

One thing is for certain, the Wildcats are glad to see the warm weather and a time to get on their home field, get consistent practice and games and begin to progress looking toward district tournament and a chance to play in the 10th Region Tournament.

Wildcats derail Silver Grove Trains

Games have been hard to get in throughout the first month of the season, but the Cats were able to play four varsity games in three days while also getting a JV doubleheader in during the same stretch. The number of games stretched the pitching staff but simply being on the field and playing baseball was a big positive for Pendleton.

The Cats varsity only picked up one win in the three-day stretch, in the middle versus Silver Grove, a 8-2 decision for starting pitcher Senior Jacob Partin.
