Orie Bailey, 71 Print E-mail

Orie C. Bailey, 71, of Cincinnati, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Anderson Mercey Hospital.

He was born in Ohio on April 22, 1941. He retired from Big Lots as a retail store manager in the Cincinnati area.

Preceding him in death by were parents, Orie and Helen Brewster Bailey; brother, Chippy Bailey; and sister, Nancy Bailey.

Surviving are wife, Kim Bailey, Cincinnati; son, Orie Bailey- Columbus; daughters, Mary Lynn Bailey, Cincinnati, Tammy Bailey, New Richmond, Cindy Lumpkins, Bethel; eight  grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, KY.

Interment took place at the  Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Military services held for Gentry Print E-mail

American Legion Post 109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. Post members held full military services for Mr. Ellis Gentry at the Morgan Cemetery, Falmouth on October 3, 2012.

Mr. Ellis Gentry served in the United States Army in the World War II.

To Mr. Ellis Gentry we honor and salute you.

To the family we offer sympathy.

American Legion Post 109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. Post members present were Bruce Westbrook, Ken Wrobleski, Joe Klar, Jim Sharp, Charles Biddle, Baxter Courts, Phil Hedges, Donald Steele, Jim Morton, Ronnie Bay, David Priest and Shelby McDowell.

Taps was played by Jim Sharp.

Another veteran was laid to rest.

Erma Wright, 92 Print E-mail

Erma Fern Dawson Wright, 92, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at her home.

She was born in Peach Grove,  on July 15, 1920. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church, a founding member of the Northern Pendleton Fire Department and a member of the Homemakers.

Preceding her in death were  parents, Spence and Janie Montgomery Dawson; husband, William G. Wright; sons, Robert Wright, Darrel Wright and William Roland Wright; brothers, John and Wilson Dawson; and sister, Verna Rapp.

Surviving are daughter, Mary Wright, Butler; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and  four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Interment took place at the  Peach Grove Cemetery, Butler.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station., Maysville, KY.

Paul Eckert, 79 Print E-mail

Paul W. Eckert, 79, of Lake Lure, N. C. passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at Hospice of Rutherford County.

Mr. Eckert was born in Butler,  on June 6, 1933 and was a son of the late Jesse Adam Eckert and Lillian Dodridge Eckert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Korean War. He retired from the city of West Palm Beach as a master electrician.  Mr. Eckert was loved by all who knew him and was always willing to help someone in need.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.

Preceding him in death were first wife, Rosemary Cashman Eckert.

Surviving wife, Olive G. Eckert; children, James Eckert, Boynton Beach, Fla., Laura (Frank) Madden, Cincinnati and Phillip Paul (Denise) Eckert, Lake Lure; step-sons, Terry (Helen)  Winfrey, Columbus and Samuel  (Brenda) Payne, Lake Lure, N.C.;  sister, June (Russell) Biddle, Erlanger; grandchildren, Trevor W. Spaulding and Frank Paul Madden.

Cecil Lee Webber, 95, of Harrison County, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana.

Surviving are daughters; Judy Webber, Lexington, Janet Webber,  Harrison County and Connie Webber, Harrison County,

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012  at Antioch Mills Christian Church. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth will be serving the family.

Interment will take place at the Pythian Grove Cemetery.

Margaret Smith Rose, 79,  of Bethlehem, Ga. passed away  Monday, October 1, 2012 in
Athens, Ga.

Surviving are sons, Charles Paul Rose Jr., Stephen Matthew Rose and Timothy James Rose; and  brother, Robert Smith.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Athens, Ga.

Interment took place Friday, October 5 at the Gardnersville Cemetery with Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden, served the family.

Anna Wiggins, 72 Print E-mail

Anna Frances Wiggins, 72, of Falmouth passed away Friday at her home.

She was born in Harrison Co. on November 9, 1939, to the late Ward and Mabel Lang Latimer. She was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church and worked in the medical field and as an E.M.T.

Preceding her, in addition to her parents, were husband, Pickett Wiggins, July 22, 1994 and a son, Phillip Fogle, who died in infancy.

Surviving are daughter, Lisa (Pete) Price, Falmouth;  son, Jeffery (Cindy) Fogle,  Hebron;  grandchildren, Zachary Toll, Tiffany Toll, Brittany McCann, Kylee Price, Luke Price, Gabe Price, Cameron Lonaker, Ryan, Cameron, and Brady Fogle; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.,Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Joe Hall officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Toll, Luke Price, Gabe Price, Pete Price, Justin McCann, and Hank Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Chipper McGhee, Pat Sturgill, and Tony Messmer.

Interment will take place in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.

Vernetta Faye Vater, 94, of Alexandria, passed away on September 24, 2012 at St. Elizabeth, Ft. Thomas.

Preceding her in death were  husband, James R. Vater Jr.

Surviving are son, Danny Vater, West Chester, Ohio; daughter, Peggy Vater, Alexandria; sister, Novenda Colvin; granddaughters, Tammy, Michele and Amy; grandson, Donald; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Alexandria Funeral Home.

Interment was in the Plum Creek Cemetery.

Funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012 also at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at the Johns Hill Cemetery, Cold Springs.

Mary Helen Self, 81, wife of James W. Self Sr. passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012.

She was born in Butler to the late Harry and Laura Pribble.

Surviving are, in addition to her husband, children, Jim (Linda) Self, Jeff (Janet) Self, Cheri (Joe) Amann; grandchildren, Melissa, Eric and Amanda; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd.

Interment will take place at  the Lexington Cemetery.
