Clevie Bruin, 100 Print E-mail

Clevie Bruin, 100, of Falmouth, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Bracken County, on May 20, 1913, to the late Grover and Sally FrancisĀ  Flora. She was the last of her immediate family. In January 1932, she married Harvey Bruin, and her dear husband preceded her in death on July 25, 1994. She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, Pendleton County. Formerly, she worked as a seamstress with Crown Overall and as a line boss with Dr. Scholl's Factory, both of Falmouth. Clevie and Harvey farmed, fished, hunted and built houses in Bracken, Pendleton and Harrison counties. She also loved to quilt. Many blue ribbon winners, sewn together with love and patience, now grace the homes of family and friends. Upon retirement, the couple lived in Falmouth above Houchen's Shoe Store for 45 years. For the past 23 years, Clevie has been living with her caregivers, Steve and JoAnn Greene, where her humor, quick wit, and storytelling are going to be missed.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Dr. Michael Schafer officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Greene, David Gordley Jr., Cody Gordley, Orie Ramsey, Jeff Greene and Bobby Ishmael.

Interment will take place at the Neave Cemetery, Bracken County.
