FAITH & VALUES

Blanket CreekIt was good to have the family of our beloved deceased friend, Frances Blackburn, with us today. This is an annual tradition for them. A way to honor her memory.Scripture was Luke 24:13-35. It was pointed out that we are as guilty as the Sanhedrin and Pontus Pilot.

LIFE IN THE COLE BIN

By Burton W. ColeDecades ago, folk singer Jim Croce taught me a series of life lessons. The main points, as I recall, were these:• You don’t tug on Superman’s cape;• You don’t spit into the wind;• You don’t pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger;• You don’t mess around with Jim.
Jim Thaxton took this photo from the one looking out the office door of Thaxton’s Canoe Trails and Paddlers’ Inn in Butler. “We have a saying up there: ‘When the river reaches 44, it is at our door.’ It was right at 42 feet when the photo was taken,” he said.

Paddlin’ with Thaxton

By Jim Thaxton For those who experienced it, the devastating flood of 1997 left indelible marks on their lives. The trauma they and their community endured resurfaces when forecasts predict the possibility of flooding.

LIFE IN THE COLE BIN

FAITH & VALUES

Blanket CreekLuke 22:14-23 talks about the Lord's Supper. It talks about fellowship with Him before He suffers on the cross and ultimately dies for us.Some people think they don’t need to go to church to worship God and that may be true.

LIFE IN THE COLE BIN

By Burton W. Cole I pulled the blanket tighter around my shoulders. It was Saturday and I sat on my apartment balcony watching the rain.Soggy thoughts swished around my brain. I wondered, if rain falls on a town, and there’s no one to sit on a balcony to watch it, would the rain still be wet?

LIFE IN THE COLE BIN

By Burton W. Cole Dear Boss,I know you expected me to finish that important report. In fact, I know you were counting on it.But it’s not my fault that there will be a big blank space where you expected to publish the report, which would have been brilliant, by the way.
