The Pendleton County Wildcats took on a pair of opponents from the 37th district and were able to score their second victory of the season over Calvary Christian before falling at Scott.

On Jan. 3, the team traveled to face Calvary Christian and enjoyed a lopsided 57-19 win to snap their 10-game losing streak. Pendleton County raced out to a big first half lead and never looked back as junior Alex Beyst led the team with 11 points. Junior center Austin Kirsch added 10 points while senior Ethan Verst chipped on with nine and junior Hunter Jack finished with seven points and seven rebounds. The 38-point win marked the largest margin of victory for the team under head coach Sam Elsbernd.

On Jan. 6, the Wildcats traveled to Taylor Mill looking to notch their first win over Scott High since 2006. However, Scott was able to defend their home court and extend their long winning in defeating Pendleton County 78-36. Scott took advantage of early Wildcat turnovers and converted them into points as they built a large lead that would grow during the second half.

“We played well defensively in our win over Calvary Christian to earn that win. This week, we’re looking forward to having three home games,” Coach Elsbernd said.

Pendleton County begins a busy week with a Jan. 10 matchup against Montgomery County. On Jan. 12, the team hosts Bourbon County and on Jan. 13, the team will take on Robertson County in the first of five scheduled contest versus district opponents.
