Due to the Colonial Pipeline fuel shortage the Lucas Oil Series and tracks 411 Motor Speedway and Talladega Short Track canceled their events on May 14 and 15.     The WoO series raced last week at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in the Dairyland Showdown. On May 7 Brandon Sheppard finally picked up his first WoO win of the season leaving him only eight behind Josh Richards for most victories in the series. Brent Larson held the lead early, but as the race went on and the top groove came in Sheppard found the spot he needed to be. Sheppard and Larson  along with Ryan Gustin battled to hold first, but with five laps left Gustin broke his driveshaft ending any chances he had for a top finish.
Saturday saw Chris Madden get the pay day as he held off Ryan Gustin. Mike Warren reported that Brandon Sheppard and Kyle Strickler had a hard battle for third and maybe exchanged some sheet metal which had Sheppard a little fired up after the race, “The eight car couldn’t pass me without hitting me. I don’t know what his problem is.” Needless to say Strickler’s view was different as he commented about the situation, “It doesn’t matter who he is or who he drives for. He puts his pants on the same way I do, so I’m going to go out there and run as hard as we can.”
Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, William Byron that was the order of the top four finishers this week at Dover. All Team Hendrick cars in what was a dominating show of just how strong the team has developed. The scary aspect for other teams is that all of the Hendrick drivers are young and won’t be going any place soon except for victory lane.
Martin Truex Jr. gave it his best shot and held the lead for a while until he was overpowered, Joey Lagano was picking up steam, but didn’t have the horses to get by the first four.Tyler Reddick and Daniel Suarez both had great runs and finished in the top ten. Suarez seems to show some promise as a driver.
Stewart- Haas finally was able to put two cars in the top ten with Kevin Harvick and Cole Custer, but the disasterous year continued for Aric Almirola as something in his suspension broke taking him into the wall and then on fire.
Josh Berry made his Cup Series debut this weekend at Dover,  filling in for Justin Haley who was out due to COVID 19 protocol, and finished 30th. On Saturday Berry finished second in the Xfinity race.
Next week the Cup Series visits Austin, Texas and runs COTA. This should be a really interesting race looking at the layout of the track. It includes some real tight hairpin corners which could
