Pendleton County Wildcat Bowling teams on fire

The Pendleton County Bowling teams met Simon Kenton on January 5 the Bellewood lanes. The Ladycats and the Wildcats wasted no time in securing team wins. Both teams won their match 6-1. Scores as follows: Braden Brann 202-113, Adam Straus 119, Jack Souther 93, Bradley Brann 225-184, Kyan Brewer 161-265, Leroy Bryant 171-173, Karson Enzweiler 186-244, Bradford Peoples 180-150, Koby Brewer 247-216, Maddie Crawford 143-156, Kree Brewer 129-151, Mary Mounts 120-127, Aliyah Webster 88-114, Brooklyn Wrobleski 101-104, Dara Morton 87-118.

The teams returned to the alley at the Covington Catholic 2023 Team Challenge. The Ladycat bowlers were Kree Brewer, Maddie Crawford, Mary Mounts, Brooklyn Wrobleski and Dara Morton. Each player bowled two seeding games which placed the Ladycats ninth out of 14 teams. In the elimination round, the Ladycats went up against Highlands A with the first team winning two games moving on. The Ladycats lost the first game 147-125. As they rallied together, the second game turned out to be a close one. The game was decided in the 10th frame with the Ladycats losing 107-104 which eliminated them from the tournament.

In the boys division, the Wildcats came out ready to do battle. Those bowling were Leroy Bryant, Karson Enzweiler, Bradley Brann, Braden Brann, Koby Brewer, Kyan Brewer. At the end of the seeding round, the Wildcats had two players make the All Tournament Team. Karson Enzweiler, who seeded second with a 468, and Kyan Brewer, who seeded fifth with a 453. As a team the Wildcats seeded first out of 18 teams with a total of 2152. In their second seeding game, out of a total of 50 frames the Wildcats filled 40 of those frames with strikes giving them the highest seeding game of 1164. Hungry for a win, the team never looked back. Receiving a bye the first round they met Lloyd in the second round. The team took the win in two games and moved on to Covington Catholic. After two games the Wildcats were again on top and meeting Boone County in the semifinals. Boone didn’t stand a chance as the Wildcats took the win in two games. In the finals the teams met Cooper. Cooper took the first win only to be bested by the Wildcats in the next two games. With that win the Pendleton CountyWildcats became the winners of the Covington Catholic 2023 Team Challenge.

On Jan.8, nine members of the bowling team back in the alley at the Dayton High School Singles Tournament. In the boys division there were 37 bowlers and 23 in the girls. After two games for seeding the Pendleton bowlers were ranked as follows: (boys) Karson Enzweiler 26, Adam Straus 24, Bradford Peoples 34, Bradley Brann 10, Braden Brann 6, Koby Brewer 3, Kyan Brewer 4, (girls) Maddie Crawford 1st and Kree Brewer 6th. Pendleton had three bowlers named to the All Tournament Team (boys team) Kyan Brewer 4th with a 436, Koby Brewer 3rd with a 452, (girls team) Maddie Crawford 1st with a 365. The elimination part of the tournament proved to be an exciting one. In the girls division, both Ladycats had a bye in the first round. In the second round Kree Brewer put up a great fight but was eliminated by one pin in the tenth frame 171-170. Maddie Crawford won her game 173-119 to move on. Maddie won the third round 143-120 and the semi-final game 164-129. In the finals Maddie tied her opponent and the game went into a two frame roll off. Both bowlers spared in the first frame, but Maddie stayed calm and struck in the second to win the girls division of the Dayton High School Singles Tournament.

In the boys, division first round all Wildcat bowlers had a bye, except Bradford Peoples. Bradford was eliminated in round one with Bradley Brann and Adam Straus being eliminated in round two. In the third round all four remaining Wildcat bowlers, Koby Brewer, Kyan Brewer, Braden Brann, and Karson Enzweiler won to advance to the elite eight. The elite eight round proved to be a touch one for the Wildcats with all but Koby Brewer being eliminated. Brewer moved to the semifinal game against Maddox Kurlya. This game was a nail biter with Brewer needing a strike to win, nine count to tie and anything less would lose. He rolled the ball down the lane and struck to win the game 200-199 which moved him to the finals. Brewer’s momentum continued as he beat Adain Vickers 221-183 in the finals to make him the winner of the boys division of the Dayton High School Singles Tournament.
