After a strong first quarter defensively for the Wildcats by holding the Panthers scoreless, Fleming County started to find their rhythm. Four turnovers cost the Wildcats momentum. The Panthers took advantage of those opportunities by efficiently completing drives with scores. By the end of the first half, the Royals held a 21-0 lead. After halftime, it was all Fleming County as they continued to add to their lead and never look back. One the most visible statistics for how the Wildcats played was their 29 percent third-down percentage. It is tough to win football games when you can’t get it going on third down.
Offensively the Wildcats were led by junior running back Oak Fields who had six carries for 33 yards. His 21-yard run was the longest offensive play of the night for the Wildcats. The Panther defense came to play and it shows up in the box score.
Defensively the Wildcats were able to force the Panthers to put two fumbles on the ground. Both were recovered by Wildcats. Senior defensive end Garrett Grogan had one of his best defensive plays by jumping on the football. Junior defensive back Jacob Redden led the Wildcats in tackles with seven. Senior linebacker Caleb Rogers chipped in with five.
Senior punter Parker Schry had a busy night on special teams as the Wildcats punted six times for an average of 34 yards per punt.
