Joey Logano secured the first spot in the final four with a win at Kansas. He raced near the front all day, but couldn’t hold first place. Late in the race he entered the pits in second behind Harvick, but after a blazing fast pit stop came out in first ahead of Harvick by tenths of a second. The two battled to the checkered flag, but Harvick could never make a pass due to Logano expert blocking.
Kyle Larson #1 has applied to NASCAR for reinstatement. After months of suspension and doing diversity related community projects Larson is looking to get back in the Cup series. A lot of industry people are looking for him to join the Hendricks team with Stewart Haas being the darkhorse in the race.
Kyle Larson #2 raced close by in a Late Model Dirt Car at Portsmouth Raceway this weekend. He failed to qualify through the heats, but was given a promoters provisional. The Lucas drivers didn’t take too kindly to that move and when Larson tried to run high side, they promptly put him into the wall and out of the race.
Chase Briscoe picked up his ninth win of the season in the Xfinity Series at Kansas leading 159 out of 200 laps. This also locked him into the final four championship race in the Xfinity series. The race had a bad accident as #21 Anthony Alfedo flipped after hitting the wall and slid down the track upside down. Thanks to all the safety requirements NASCAR requires emergency crews flipped him back over and he climbed out unscathed.
Hailie Deegan driving the #17 ended her first race in Truck Series in 16th place. The highest finish for a female in any of the NASCAR Series in their debut race. Deegan will be running the Truck Series full time next season. That will make three female drivers competing in trucks: Jennifer Jo Cobb, Natalie Decker, and Deegan.
