The Cincinnati Reds came from behind on Tuesday evening in their exhibition game versus the Detroit Tigers winning 9-7. The two teams will play a second game at 6:10 on Wednesday night before the two teams open the season on Friday night, July 24 at 6:10 p.m.

Tigers scored five times off Nick Lodolo in the second inning which included three home runs.

After a Jesse Winkler double, Shortstop Freddy Galvis homered to right  to get the Reds on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning. A Tucker Barnhart 432 foot home run in the third inched the Reds back to the Tigers.

Detroit got the run back in the top of the 4th but the Reds tied it at six in the fifth inning with Japanese newcomer Shogo Akiyama dinged a three-run homer scoring Nick Senzel and Barnhart.

Nate Jones made a relief appearance in the 7th non-eventful inning as he got the first batter to line out to center and then struck out Derek Hill and Jorge Bonifacio for a 1-2-3 inning.

The Reds would take the lead 8-6 off a two-run home from Eugenio Suarez followed by a Jesse Winker homer, the Reds fifth of the game.

Detroit would post a meaningless run in the 9th for the 9-7 final.

The Reds bullpen would hold the Tigers to just 2 earned runs over the last 7 2/3 innings with only four hits, two walks and 10 strikeouts.
