NASCAR Awards saw seven time champion Jimmie Johnson awarded the Bill France  Award of Excellence. Chase Elliott was chosen as the most popular driver for the third straight year. Series Champions were Chase Elliott for Cup, Austin Cindric for Xfinity, and Sheldon Creed for Trucks.
Chase Elliott has said he will drive in the Snowball Derby in December. One of the biggest races on asphalt for late model racing.
The sons of Clint Bowyer and Kyle Busch are already making their mark in the sport. In fact Brexton Busch has already won his first race. If Cash is as entertaining as his dad on the racing scanner, mom might park him in the pits herself. Better get in line now to get your shirt and hat because you know these two will be winners.
Best interview of the year was Clint Bowyer’s interview with his kids and Cash asking him how he would get along with Jeff Gordon.
Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr. test drove the NextGen car around Charlotte on both the roval and oval tracks. It seems more work needs to be done on the oval setup as neither driver were happy with results.
Jeb Burton has moved to drive for Kaulig Racing in the Xfinity Series. The Kaulig team is the top and most dominate race team on the Xfinity level.
Dale Jr. has joined iRacing as an executive director and part of the company’s management. He will be involved in partner and community relations as well as user experience.
Jamie Little will become the first female to call play by play broadcastering next season when she assumes the posstion announcing races in the ARCA Menard Series. Little has been involved in sportscasting for 20 years.
Brad Sweet won his second consecutive championship in the World of Outlaws NOS Sprint Car Series.  Sweet drives for former NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne’s team. David Gravel won the season’s finale at Charlotte with Sheldon Haudenschild and Donny Schatz finished second and third. Sweet finished fourth just in front of Kyle Larson.
A new female driver to watch for in 2021 will be Logan Misuraca who will drive in both the ARCA Menards Series and the Gander Truck Series.
Eldora Speedway announced the Truck Series will not run the track next year in a statement released on Twitter. Then followed with a later tweet giving the assumption money played a role in this decision. However Eldora will pick up a  race with Tony Stewart’s new SRX Series racing there next year. There is not a better dirt track in America than Eldora. I miss the days of watching Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell or Donnie Moran and Scott Bloomquist circle the track. The place was an icon with Earl Baltes running the show and even better with Tony Stewart at the helm now.
