The Pendleton County High School Wildcats soccer team defeated Walton-Verona 4-1 last Tuesday, September 15 as the Wildcats honored their seniors.
Senior Tyler Caudill pulled off the hat trick as he scored three goals in the victory. He also assisted on a goal by senior Ethan Courts.
“I thought we played well, “ Wildcats head coach Brian Adams said, “We moved some things around tactically, and it was nice to see those changes be effective. It was an all-around team effort. It was nice on a night that we recognized our Seniors to have a performance like that.”
Caudill has scored five   goals this season and appears to be the go-to player this year when it comes to scoring goals. Coach Adams said he will obviously be the focal point because of the goals.
“His performance was impressive, but I think it’s important to recognize the work the players around him are putting in to give him more space and opportunities,” Coach Adams explained. “I’ve been really happy with Noah Barnard and Danny Miracle this season. They are putting in the work that doesn’t necessarily show up in the box score but is directly related to our success.”
Adams went on to say that Ty has an eye for goal and the technique to score from a lot of different angles, but without his teammates, the opportunities wouldn’t come.
The Wildcats next went on to road to play a tough Bishop Brossart team last Thursday, September 17. PC couldn’t find the net in the game and lost their first game of the season 5-0.
The Wildcats finished off the week with a Saturday home game against Cooper High School. However, there was lack of scoring again in a 3-1 loss. Barnard scored the lone goal for PC.
“I’m hoping we can use both the Bishop Brossart and Cooper games as learning experiences,” Coach Adams said. “It is the first adversity we have faced this season, and my guys need to react in a positive way. Cooper was a step in the right direction, even if the score-line didn’t go our way.”
Adams continued, “The good thing about this sport is we don’t have time to sit and dwell on bad results. We need to have our minds right and ready to play some important games this week.”
The Wildcats (2-2-1) have home games against St. Patrick and Paris this week, and then they finish off the week with a road game against Harrison County.
