The PCHS Cross Country team competed in the boys’ 5K run on Saturday, October 7th, at the Teams Without a Conference run in Nicholasville. The boys’ team placed 2nd overall, missing out on first place by tenths of a second.

Sophomore Klaber Wolfe led the race until the last 50 meters. As they neared the finish line, he was neck and neck with Bruce Hayden from Paris.  Hayden crossed the finish line one second ahead of Wolfe. Wolfe completed the race with a time of 18:32. Wildcat Evan Stewart came in 4th with a time of 19:06, while Tanner Morris came in 9th with a time of 19:57.  Other points earners for PC were Sam Hodge with a time of 21:07, Levi Wolfe with a time of 21:27, and Miles Collins with a time of 22:31.  The Wildcats came in second place with an average of 20:02, falling to Harrison who had an average of 20:09.  The race was so close. Freshman Miles Collins explained, “The race was mostly good. We are planning to make a comeback next week. I was very close to my personal best this week. I only missed it by a second.” According to spectator Rachel Hodge, “This was the most exciting meet of the season. Klaber did so well! We are looking forward to next weekend.”

Without enough healthy runners to make a team, the Ladycats’ runners can only compete individually. In the 5K race, Aryanna Soden edged out teammate Abby Wooten with a time of 29:06. In the girls’ 3K race, Hallie Soden had a time of 21:09, beating two other runners.

The Cross-Country team will participate in the Meet of Champions presented by MileSplit on Saturday, October 14th at Masterson Station Park in Lexington. This will be a very large meet with stiff competition.
