The final game of a weird 2020-21 college basketball season came to a close last night with a Baylor drubbing of previously undefeated Gonzaga. The 86-70 smackdown by the Bears prevented the Bulldogs from becoming the first undefeated champion since the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers coached by the legendary Bobby Knight.

The championship is the first for Baylor having finished national runner-up in 1948.

Locally, five entries had Baylor as the national champion and three of them finished atop the leaderboard.

First was Josie Arkenau who squeaked by Anna Redden. She had 490 points to Redden's 485 points.

In a distant third place was Mark Alan Redden with 450 points.

Andrew James Redden also had Baylor and finished tied for 9th with an even 400 points. Kim Dennie also chose the Bears to win it all and finished just out of the top ten in 11th with 390 points.

Arkenau wins $75 for her first place finish, Anna $50 for second and Mark Alan $25. The cash prizes can be picked up at the Falmouth Outlook office at 210 Main Street after noon on Tuesday, April 6.
