Pendleton’s Academic Team came out of district competition as first place champions and will advance to regionals in February. Students competed in various academic categories such as test taking, quick recall, future problem solving, and composition, and swept in all categories. Their Quick Recall team won and has been undefeated this year, with Emma Gillespie as their captain. Other team members are Jacob Sanning, Elissa Blackaby, Gavin Webster, Matthew Lambert, and Chance Enzweiler. The Future Problem Solving team came out on top as well, including Will Harlow, Ethan Decker, Hannah Thomas, Arryana Soden, and Katie Black. As for test taking, PC competed in mathematics (1st-Emma Gillespie, 2nd-Matthew Lambert), language arts (1st-Elissa Blackaby, 2nd-Evan Stamper, 3rd-Anna Redden), social studies (1st-Jacob Sanning, 4th-Elissa Blackaby), arts and humanities (1st-Jacob Sanning, 2nd Emma Gillespie, 3rd-Evan Stamper), and science (4th-Matthew Lambert). The team’s composition writers Calliope Warren (2nd), Emily Best (4th), and Evan Stamper (5th) did great as well.

Mrs. Bowen coaches this hardworking team, and they all hope to succeed at regionals and attend the state competition in Louisville. Great job team!
