Ladycat Volleyball torches Lady Black Devils during big week

    Ladycats took to the road last week with their first stop being Nicholas County. The play was very competitive as the game that would go for five sets. Both teams battled back and forth until the fifth and final set when the Ladycats found their tempo early and the Lady Blue Jackets could find no answer to stop the momentum falling 15-7.
    Allison Aulick led the Ladycat attack recording 14 digs, 14 kills, eight aces, and two blocks. Emma Reid gave a strong effort with 11 kills, five aces and two blocks.
    Coach French, pleased with her team’s effort said, “It was our first time having to play all five sets this season. Both teams were tired, but we never gave up. We stayed with it the entire game and came out on top.”
    Senior Morgan Godman put up five kills and three blocks while Katelin Aulick added 10 aces, four kills, and one block.
    Coach French remarked about her team, “We need to concentrate on defense and coverage at the net.”
    The Ladycats then made their way to Mt. Olivet to take on Robertson County. The Ladycats ,coming off a two game winning streak, were looking to keep on the positive side.
    The Ladycats got off to a strong start and established control early, never allowing Robertson County to get into a rhythm and mount a counter attack.
    Jordan Kirsch fed her teammates all night and tallied up 47 assists along with two kills.
    Olivia Verst patrolled the defensive side of the net with 27 digs along with three aces.
    Allison Aulick rounded out the Ladycats attack with nine kills, seven digs, and two aces. Coach Danielle French’s team continued their streak by winning all three sets against their district opponent.
    “We played extremely  well at the net tonight. Our attacks were strong and we had consistent blocking.”
    In the middle of the week, the Lady Braves from Grant County came to town looking to stop the Ladycats streak. It didn’t happen as Pendleton County won both sets 25-23, 25-17.
    Olivia Verst brought a big shovel to the mat, racking up 27 digs to go along with 5 aces. Allison Aulick also made an impact with 13 digs of her own accompanied by nine kills, two blocks, and three aces.
    The first set went back and forth between the two teams and the Ladycats found themselves down by seven at one point. Coach Danielle French rallied her players who then fought back to secure the set win.
    Alexis Cornett chipped in seven kills and two blocks while Addyson Crouch had five aces, four assists, four digs and two blocks.
    The Ladycats started off the second set with several aces and established control from the onset on their way to the second win.
    Coach French was pleased with her team’s play, “ We played very well at the net. We had strong attacks, and blocks helped us win this match.”
    The Ladycats ended their week before heading into the Harrison County Tournament on the weekend, facing the Lady Royals of Mason County.
    Coach French’s team easily controlled the first set defeating Mason County 25-15. Senior Olivia Verst had 31 digs and four aces in the night’s effort.
    The Lady Royals were able to make the second set a little more tight, but could not overcome the Ladycat’s momentum and fell 25-22. Allison Aulick had 14 kills, five aces, and two blocks while Katelin Aulick turned in 10 aces and seven kills.
    The Ladycats are now ranked in the Top 30 in the State in kills, blocks, assists, aces and digs.
    Coach French commented about her team’s standing, “We are currently fourth in the entire state in total aces served and ninth in the state in kills. Pendleton County Volleyball is doing big things.”
