Track team finishes regular season at Ryle Invitational

  On May 19, the Pendleton County High School Track and Field team traveled to Ryle to participate in the Ryle Varsity Invitational.

  Jeffery Simpson, Calliope Warren and Tia Weinel all had first place finishes. Simpson finished first in the Unified long jump while Warren and Weinel claimed the top spot in both the 2x50 and 2x200 meter relays. Simpson also found success in the boys 2x50 meter relay, finishing in second place alongside Shawn Redden. In the Unified 4x100 meter relay, Jeffery Simpson along with Ruby Mullins, Jamison Tucker, Shawn Redden finished runner-up. Jeffery Simpson and Jamison Tucker also took fourth in the 2x200 meter. Tyler Redden’s personal best shot put was good for third place in the event while also collecting a fifth place finish in discus. Other third place finishes include Katherine Black in the girls pole vault and Tia Weinel in the Unified long jump. Evan Stewart, Sam Hodge, and Nick Black all achieved personal bests in the 1600 meter. Stewart, Hodge and Black along with Austin Callen finished fourth in the 4x800 meter relay.

  Regional meet results will be in next week’s edition, as it is set to begin on May 23 at Scott High School in Taylor Mill.
