PCHS Track and Field sends 10 to the state meet

On May 23, the Pendleton County Track and Field Team competed in the Class 2A, Region 4 track meet held at Scott High School in Taylor Mill. All members of the Unified team made it, along with two participants in the regular events. Representing Pendleton County in state meet competition held in Lexington are Tia Weinel, Calliope Warren, Shawn Redden, Brayden Tucker, Katherine Black, Dylan Beckett, Ruby Mullins, Jeffery Simpson, Aryanna Soden and Kaiden Espelage.

At the regional competition, the Wildcats and Ladycats produced the following results. Jefferey Simpson and Kaiden Espelage took home the top prize in the mixed Unified long jump. Tia Weinel and Calliope Warren had quite the day finishing runner-up in the mixed Unified long jump, Unified 2x200 meter relay and the Mixed Unified 2x50 meter relay. Dylan Beckett and Shawn Redden placed second in the mixed Unified shot put. Jamison Tucker, Ruby Mullins, Shawn Redden and Jeffery Simpson finished second in the mixed Unified 4x100 meter relay. Katherine Black placed fifth in the girl’s pole vault. Jeffery Simpson and Shawn Redden took sixth in the mixed Unified 2x50 meter relay. Ruby Mullins and Aryanna Soden wrapped up the day finishing ninth in the mixed Unified 2x50 meter relay.

Other Pendleton County participants who placed at regionals but did not qualify for the state meet include Tyler Redden, finishing fourth in both shot put and discus. Catalina Furman, Aryanna Soden, Calliope Warren, and Abby Wooten placing sixth in the girl’s 4x800 meter relay. Brayden Tucker finished sixth in the 400 meter dash. Gabe Luton and Tristan Mitchell were also participants at the meet but did not qualify for state.
