On May 15 and 19, the Pendleton County Ladycat Basketbal team picked up trash on Lightfoot Ford Road and Hwy 22. Seventeen miles was covered between the two days. We picked up a total of 43 bags along with large pieces of debris from what looked to be car wrecks. Members who participated had an enjoyable time while cleaning up their community. Although some trash was unpleasant, there was not a piece of trash that went untouched or thrown away. It was a wortwhile experience to improve our community and environment. We appreciate this opportunity to serve and beautify our community, and we encourage everyone to please stop littering.

The Pendleton County Boy Scout Troop 806 and Cub Scout Pack 205 picked up over twelve miles of trash this spring along Hwy 27 and Hwy 159 in Falmouth. Altogether, we picked up over 50 bags of trash. A lot of the trash was fast food wrappers, cans and bottles. We would ask that everyone please wait until you get home or find a can to throw out your trash. Every gas station has trash receptacles – please use them instead of throwing trash out your window. Every piece of trash hurts the environment and makes our county look bad.
We would also like to thank the people on the road that slowed down when they saw us and even honked their horns and waved. One person even stopped to offer us an extra reflective vest and told us thanks for doing this.
Thanks again to the 109 Board for allowing us to participate in this fundraiser.

Dear Editor
On May 15, the youth group of Knoxville Baptist Church picked up trash along Ky 491. We are very thankful to Pendleton County’s 109 Board for the opportunity to help Pendleton County stay clean! It gives us great joy in knowing that we are helping out our community while also raising money for our youth mission camps. While doing trash pickup, we found a lot of fast food containers and alcohol bottles/cans. On behalf of the youth at Knoxville Baptist Church, we ask that you please respect our community and do not litter.
Again thank you Pendleton Co. 109 Board and Billy Steele for this opportunity and we challenge the citizens of Pendleton Co. to refrain from thowing garbageou tof your vehicles.

On May 14 & 15, a few members of Falmouth Baptist Church picked up garbage along Hwy 177E from BB’s in Butler to Hwy 159. This is a total of nine miles with both sides fo the road. You would not believe how much garbage is along this stretch of road. The group picked up 23 BAGS OF GARBAGE! Everything from cups, bottles, beer cans to McDonald’s bags, vehicle parts and somethings need not be mentioned.
Please consider placing a plastic bag in your car to put your garbage in and throwing it away when you get home or even at the gas station when you are filling up. This would help keep our community beaufitful.

Dear Editor
On May 1, Falmouth Wesleyan Church did a trash pickup on Hwy 330 for a five-mile stretch. There were 10 volunteers and it was a very beautiful day. The Falmouth Wesleyan Church always enjoys picking up and making the highway even prettier.     Please don’t litter.

Dear Editor
Thirteen members of Falmouth Christian Church spent several hours over a three-day span, collecting 26 bags of discarded items along 1054 and SR 330. It’s a lot of work to keep our roads and our community litter free. The solution to end it is so simple, “Put trash in its proper place.”
Many items along the roads could be avoided if loose items in truck beds were weighted down, if more people used permanent water bottles, and if everyone carried a small trash bag in their car and disposed of it when they get home. We would see such a difference. If wwe all made a conscious effort to eliminate litter along the roadways, vistiors traveling through the county would see the beauty that we all know it should be.
Please take part in keeping our roadways litter free.

Dear Editor
From May 11 to 14, Pendleton County High School Navy Junior ROTC cadets and their instructors cleaned up trash alongside an eight-mile stretch of Hwy 27 from Ky Hwy 17 to the Campbell County line. Forty-nine volunteers devoted approximately 147 man-hours and filled 54 bags with garbage. We found enough silverware to host a Thanksgviving dinner, a blue rubber ball and several broken phone parts in addition to the usual food and beverage containers, tobacco products, clothing items, and vehicle parts.
The Navy Junior ROTC is just one of many local youth groups that participate in the Adopt-a-Highway program. We take pride in serving their community and being part of something bigger than ourselves. Now, we want to challenge YOU to be part of something bigger than yourself and do your part to keep our community great. Please consider donating your time, effort and skills to help others. Every day, try to bring a little joy into someone else’s life. Honor our military, first responders, teachers, and others who dedicate their lives to supporting our community and our country.
You can do a small thing to keep our community clean, and it doesn’t require much effort. Please dispose of your trash properly and carefully tie down whatever you may be hauling. Litter on our roadways damages the environment and spoils the beauftiful rolling hills of our county. Please do your part to keep Pendleton County clean!
Very respectfully
