SHIRLEY GRIZZELL
Shirley Marie Grizzell, 96, of California (Grants Lick) KY passed away on January 6, 2024, at her home.
She was born on May 4, 1927 in Butler, KY. Shirley was the daughter of the late Melvin and Jessie (Schafer) Caldwell. She was a 1946 graduate of Butler High School. She worked as a waitress for the Highland Country Club, a cook for the Campbell County School system, and a clerk at the Disabled American Veterans for a brief time. She was a member of the Plum Creek Christian Church. Shirley loved traveling, playing cards, dining out, baking and cooking, but most of all spending time with her family. She won many blue ribbons over the years at the Alexandria Fair for her baking entries. Shirley was a loving person to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
The following preceded her death: husband Robert E. Lee Grizzell; granddaughter Katherine (Katie) Grizzell; a sister Dorothy Caldwell Wright; a brother Robert Caldwell, a brother Wayne Caldwell, and a brother Melvin (Junior) Caldwell.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Melinda Grizzell; sons Kendall (Debbie) Grizzell and Robert (Linda) Grizzell; sisters Lagene (Jean) Schwartz and Jessie Lou (Elstun) Bobb; and brothers J. W. (Geneva) Caldwell and Donald (Mary) Caldwell. She is also survived by a grandson Troy (Brandi) McKinney; great-granddaughters Brooklyn McKinney and Parker Canafax; a great grandson Tyler McKinney; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Plum Creek Christian Church, 961 Nagel Road, Butler, KY 41006. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m., also at the church with Bro. Doug Harley officiating.
Interment will take place at the Butler Cemetery following the ceremony.
