Ruth Carolyn McMillian Black of DeMossville, KY passed peacefully away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at her home on the same farm where she was born and raised. Ruth was born in Pendleton County on July 30, 1942, the daughter of the late Chesley E. and Laura E. Straub McMillian.

  Ruth was a former employee of the Federal Reserve Bank, a dispatcher for Tri-County Ambulance, a member of St. John Catholic Church, a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and a Kentucky Colonel. Ruth graduated from Pendleton County High School in 1960, she was a part of the first graduating class of the school. Her strength, faith, and love were an inspiration to all.   

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Phillip Ray Black; her firstborn son Kevin Black; and brother Robert McMillian. 

Survivors include her son Mark (Lisa) Black; daughter Julie (Paul) Dargis; and grandchildren Stephen, Andrew, Lauren Black, and Olivia Dargis.

Visitation was held Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler, KY. The mass of Christian burial occurred on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at St. John Catholic Church in Pendleton County. 

Interment took place at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Pendleton County.
