Ruby Sharp, 96

Butler — Ruby Sharp, 97, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.

Born in Pendleton County, she was the daughter of the late James Clark and Lula Bray Thomas. On July 3, 1948, she married Tommy Sharp. Ruby and Tommy shared 61 wonderful years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 19, 2009.

Ruby worked at Dr. Scholl’s, where she made many lifelong friends. She was also a devoted caregiver, homemaker, and a member of Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church.

Ruby will be remembered for her strength and devotion to her loved ones. She enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing stories from years gone by. She leaves behind countless memories that will continue to be shared for generations.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Thomas, in 1999. 

Ruby is survived by one son, Don (Pam) Sharp, of Lebanon, Ohio; two daughters, Karen (Doug) Dunaway, of Berry, Kathy Sharp of Butler; six grandchildren, Raegan Sharp, Emily Pickett, Amy Miller, Brent Dunaway, Tyler Sharp, Lauren Sharp; seven great-grandchildren, Aaron Pickett, Kendra Pickett, Brooke Dunaway, Whitney Dunaway, Taylor Dunaway, Logan Miller, and Georgia Sharp.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2026, at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Funeral will immediately follow, also at the funeral home. 

Ruby’s final resting place will take place at Peach Grove Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Raegan Sharp, Emily Pickett, Amy Miller, Brent Dunaway, Lauren Sharp, Aaron Pickett and Logan Miller. Honoray pallbearers will be Tyler Sharp, Georgia Dee Sharp, Brooke Dunaway, Whitney Dunaway, and Taylor Dunaway.
