Body

One of Falmouth’s most treasured residents, Ralph “Skipp” Taylor II, passed away in the early hours of December 8 at the age of 72. To many in the community, Skipp stood as an inspirational figure, a teacher, a basketball coach, and a dear friend who will be deeply missed.
Born in Pendleton County in 1948, Skipp spent his early years among the company of his siblings and his elders, taking a keen interest in the history of the town and family he loved. In fact, Skipp defined himself on those terms, descending from one of Falmouth’s earliest families. Among the first black students after the integration of Falmouth’s high school, Skipp thrived as a basketball player, eventually using his talents to coach others in the community.
After moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, Skipp met his beloved wife, Jeanette, and the couple would raise three children before returning to Falmouth in 1988. Upon his return, he opened his own business - Hand Jive Carwash, which his son, Skip, has now taken up.
Although his body has left this world, his legacy in Falmouth will surely continue on. Skipp is survived by his wife, Jeanette Taylor; two daughters, Rachel (Roberto Williams) Taylor and Annette Taylor; two sons, Ralph “Skip” Taylor III and Shawn (Von) Taylor; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. A second visitation will held 11-1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 with funeral services immediately following at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Falmouth.
