Patty Ann (Bay) Moorhead, 85, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 in Brooksville, KY. 

She was born in Bracken County on January 17, 1938 to the late Harold and Helen (Butler) Bay. She was a devout member of Brooksville Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for 69 years; the church organist for 60 years; chairperson of the Community Sunrise Service for 33 years participated in the past 57 Community Christmas Programs; served on various church committees; chairperson of the County Christian Women’s Meeting; Mary Martha Women’s Circle member for eight years; and president of Mary Martha Women’s Circle for three years. Patty Ann was a staunch community minded person. She was a member of Bracken County Extension Homemakers where she was Club President and Vice President for many terms, from 1958-2010 all while organizing a new homemakers club from 1969-1971. She was President, Vice President, and Secretary /Treasurer on the county level from 1963-1992; held area President and Secretary positions from 1967-1982; the State Level Secretary and President between 1983-1989 and State Executive Council President and Vice President from 1994-1998; and the National Extension Homemakers Council Southern Regional Director for 1990-1992. She was appointed to numerous committees held in the Extension Homemakers in her Local Club from 2004-2010, in the County Level from 2004-2010, State Level from 1967-2013 and National Level from 1981-1998. Other organizations she was appointed to committees were the CWC/ACWW between 1986-2010 where she held various positions including being a Life Member of ACWW; Extension Council from 1982-1998 holding outstanding leadership positions; 4-H where she served a Leader, President of County Council, Area Council President and Vice President between 1957-1986; she was a member of Master Farm Homemaker Guild from 1985-2011 where she served on several committees and held positions of Secretary/Treasurer, Chairperson for Planning National Meetings, National Vice President. Two important accolades that Patty Ann held was the Master Farm Homemaker Guild was State President of Kentucky Master Farm Homemaker Guild from 2009-2011; and the CARAT Delegate for University of Kentucky from 1999-2010. Besides the aforementioned clubs and organizations, Patty Ann was also involved in several other community activities from 1960-1988 which included, the Southern States Board, Classroom Mother, PTA President, Chairperson of Bicentennial Ox Roast, State Farm Bureau Sewing Winner, a Panel Member for Kentucky Association of Extension Home Economists State Meeting, Chairperson of Workshop of Kentucky Conference on Volunteerism, and Chairperson of Civic Committee for Kentucky Volunteer Awareness Month. 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edward “Shorty” Moorhead who passed away on November 20, 2003 and her daughter, Deborah Moorhead Frank.  

She is survived by her daughter, Melony Moorhead (David) Phillips of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandchildren, Brent (Sarah) Hoffman, Collin (Delaney) Hoffman, and Zakary Frank; five step-grandchildren, Britanny (Arend) Van’tHoff, David Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Ian (Emily) Frank, and Marla (David) Cortez; and five step great-grandchildren, Kamrin Van’tHof, Nolan Van’tHof, Carter Phillips, Roman Phillips, and Baxter Frank; and her grand dogs, Gambino and Hayden. 

The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Moore & Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville. The visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Interment will take place at Neave Cemetery.
