Patricia Sharp Ammerman Hoess, 84, of Falmouth, KY, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler, where she had resided for the last few years.

Born on January 30, 1939, “Patty” was the only child of the late Winston and Emma Grace Cooper Sharp. She graduated from Morgan High School.

On March 15, 1958, she married Harvey L. Ammerman and together they raised their family, owned and operated Ammerman’s True Value Hardware Store, and supported and participated in many community activities before his sudden passing on January 27, 1993. For many years, Patty worked at the Pendleton Federal Savings and Loan in Falmouth, and she was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church.

On April 15, 1996, she married Howard J. Hoess, and they operated the Dairy Queen, a local landmark since 1952, rebuilding at the same site after the flood of March 1, 1997, and becoming Howard’s Place, a Western-themed restaurant with historic photographs and memorabilia from Pendleton, Campbell, and Harrison counties, and again in 2005, following a devastating fire. Howard and Patty were often found at the restaurant, where they enjoyed time with patrons, listening to the music of the “Supper Table Gang.”  Following Howard’s passing on January 28, 2010, Patty visited the restaurant and continued their traditions, for as long as she was able. Over the years, Patty loved square dancing and camping with family and friends.

She is survived by two children:  Dean (Tammy) Ammerman and Angie Ammerman (Rick Mineer) both of Falmouth; two step-sons: Tony Hoess of Falmouth and Jeffrey Hoess-Brooks of Chicopee, MA; eight grandchildren:  Christy (Dodd) Hance of Union, KY, Lindsay (Billy) Wehage of Independence, KY, Tori (Joe) Cornine of Burlington, KY, McKenna Mineer and Amber Mineer, both of Falmouth, April Booher of Louisville, KY, Barry (Monica) Ammerman and Cassandra (DJ) Jacobs, both of Falmouth; several great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Jeff Dean officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home preceding the service.

Interment will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County.
