Michael Houston Rose, 28, of Morehead, KY, formerly of Florence, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Clark County Medical Center in Winchester, KY.

Born on April 27, 1994 in Harrison County, KY, he was the son of Amber Thompson Rose and the late James David Rose. A 2012 Pendleton High School graduate, Michael pursued International Affairs at Western Kentucky University, studying in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China. He later transferred to Northern Kentucky University, taking Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic simultaneously and  earning his bachelor’s degree in International Affairs. Michael enjoyed tutoring high school students for the ACT and SAT.  He was a renaissance man, with incredible talent as an artist, sculptor, and vocalist, and he had a brilliant mind.  He received a state award for winning a contest sponsored by the Kentucky Horse Park, where he painted a sculpted horse. Formerly, Michael worked as a sales representative for Citibank in Florence, KY.

In addition to his father, Michael is predeceased by three grandparents: Gary Thompson and Jimmy and JoAnn Rose.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his mother, Amber Thompson Rose of Florence, KY; his aunts: Lisa (Philip) Kapusta of Fredericksburg, VA and Debbie Hudson of Morehead, KY; his grandparents: Kathy and Rick Redmond of Florence, KY and Marsha Thompson of Alexandria, KY; his great-grandmother, Shirley Houston of LaBelle, FL; and a host of extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Michael Rose was held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Plum Creek Christian Church with Executive Minister Jared Perkins officiating. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is taking care of the family.
