C. Allen Record of Dover, Delaware, passed away Wednesday June 7, 2023. He was 94.

He was born February 12th, 1929, in Butler, KY, to the late Roy Ransom and Stella Anna Marie (Holoch) Record.

He was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School in Butler, KY. He played basketball and married his high school sweetheart, Ada Fay Parsons, after graduation. They celebrated 75 years of marriage last August.

Allen graduated from the Cincinnati Bible Seminary in 1951 and began a lifelong service in the ministry and public education.

He served as a minister at several churches in Pendleton and Grant Counties in KY. He worked in the early years developing two Christian service camps. He was a trustee for 11 years at Northward Christian Assembly in Falmouth KY and served on the Board of Directors for the Delmarva Christian Service Camp in Laurel, DE for 18 years. Allen was a dedicated active member, teacher, and elder for the Capitol City Church of Christ, Dover DE, until his passing.

Mr. Record began his career in education in Pendleton County, KY as a grade schoolteacher and principal, high school history teacher and guidance counselor. He received a Master of Education from Xavier University in 1963. He spent 17 years in KY before moving to Dover, DE in 1972, where he worked as a guidance counselor at Caesar Rodney High School for another 16 years, retiring in 1988.

Golf was a passion along with woodworking. He made furniture, including tables and cabinets. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan as well.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathy Lou Record.

Mr. Record is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Ada Fay Record of Dover, DE; his children, Shelley Odor (Don) of Butler, KY, Rhonda Paris (Rich) of Dover, DE, Barry Record (Erika) of Grove City, PA, and Jan Coulbourne of Dover, DE; his sister, Brenda Maxedon of Butler, KY; his nine grandchildren, Erica Claypool, Jessica Ingram, Brent Paris, Brian Paris, Bethany Hunt, Erik Record, Brendan Record, Tate Coulbourne, and Tyler Coulbourne; and 14 great-grandchildren, Collyns, Taylor, Matthew, Owen, Emmett, Julia, Shannon, Ray, Willa, Gemma, Isla, Marissa, Jameson, and Callie.

Visitation was held on Sunday June 11, 2023, with a memorial service on Monday, both held at Torbert Funeral Chapel, in Dover, DE.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday July 5, 2023 at Peach Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Capitol City Church of Christ.
