Birdie Bruin, 88

    Birdie Bruin, 88, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the River Valley Nursing Home. Birdie was born in Pendleton County on August 9, 1931, daughter to the late Ercil and Johnana Miller Vanlandingham.
    Birdie was a member of the the Oakland Christian Church in Pendleton County and active Pendleton County Homemaker. Birdie spent most of her time volunteering with the 4-H council, fair board, church, Pendleton County schools and the girl scouts.
In addition to her parents, Birdie is preceded in death by her husband Dempsey A. Bruin, brother Frank Vanlandingham, sister Thelma Jenkins and step-daughter Bonnie Bruin.
    Survivors include son Stephen (Melissa) Bruin, daughter Vickie Bennett, brother Benny Vanlandingham, sisters Anna Shumaker and Joyce Beckett, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.
    Interment took place in in the Riverside Cemetery.
