It has been a record setting and inspirational  pairing over the last several years. Parker Schry and Sam Bryant have been so much to each other as each went through their formative years in middle school and high school.
Schry is what some refer to as a “normal” student while Bryant is a “special needs” student, but watching them on the track interact and compete, you can tell that, despite the labels placed on them, they are above all, friends.        “I’m so proud of the boys for the hard work they have put in this year to qualify for state. They are both very special and dedicated young men,” said Unified Track Coach Kenni King, who has been with them through their entire run of competing in KHSAA’s Unified Division.
The two won a state title in long jump that first year when they were in the 7th grade and will return to compete once again in that event as seniors. They will also compete in the 2X50 meter relay and the long jump
In the long jump, they are in the mix for another state title to wrap up their career together. Their combined distance of 19’ 7 1/2” at region places them third in the state qualifying distances.
Their shotput ranking is one spot better as their combined distance of 6’ 3 1/2 inches ranks them second.
In the 2x50 meter relay, they have the 9th fastest time from region competition at 18.79 seconds.
Kentucky Special Olympics  detailed their friendship with an inaugural video highlighting their friendship. It can be viewed at at falmouthoutlook.com but be warned: have a tissue nearby.
