The Senior class received a special treat this past week as the DeMoss Lodge No 220 Freedom & Accepted Mason’s served the class a delicious meal of hamburger, hot dogs, ribs,           coleslaw, potato salad, chips and cookies.
“The seniors were great!  They were so gracious and thankful. This is the first time some of them have been together since March,” stated Ms. Debbie Hart.  Several of the Masons commented on how nice it was to hear the young people say “thank you”.
The Masons, under the leadership of Grand Master, Kelse Murphy, host many fundraisers throughout the year in order to raise money for up to two scholarships at the end of the school year.  These scholarships are presented to two deserving students who have worked hard during the four years of high school and have a goal for his/her future.  The Masons just hope to help in some way and to reward their efforts.
Some of the fundraisers the Masons do are selling the Fourth of July fireworks on 27 in Butler. They are having a Charity Golf Outing at Pendleton Hills on August 28. Play four to a team or single, $70 per person on site, $100 hole sponsors, 7:15 registration and 7:30 shotgun start.
They participate in the Memorial Day parade, Fourth of July parade and Christmas parades in Butler. They also do a flag ceremony on the graves.
