According to Head Coach Lisa Feltner, her team made huge gains this week.
“The biggest surprise on paper this week is the huge improvement of most of our players.  We knew they were getting better and playing better – but the paper says it best.  When you play two teams at the beginning of the season and then play them again and compare scores – we improved so much over the season!  We are so proud of the way both the boys and girls are playing,” Feltner said.
She offered the play of her #1 boys singles player up as an example.
“(He) played both of his matches versus the same person previously.  Mason lost to Bourbon 1-8 the first time and lost 2-6. 5-7 on Wednesday.  He had an amazing match on Thursday where he lost 7-9 and this match lasted over 1 ½ hours,” she said.
Tredyn Thomas and Tommy Nitschke remained undefeated in regional play this year playing as #2 doubles. They will take that undefeated streak into region where they will matchup against some school’s #1 doubles teams.
Eric Hurst and Jordan Pearson, #1 doubles have only twice this season and both have been to Bourbon County and Mason County. They will also be playing in regionals.
Mason Hardy and David Hurst will be playing on the boys singles side.
The girls doubles team are also poised to make some noise at region. They have one loss in regional play. It was to Campbell County and Lilly Brinkdoepke and Katelin Aulick will be looking for an opportunity to avenge that single defeat.
Emmie Dunn and Ally Hall who played as #1 doubles this week against Mason County and won 8-0 will also be playing in region.
Maddie Duff and Shelby King will be playing in singles girls region competition.
