The Pendleton County High School cheerleaders recently competed in another Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) virtual competition at the end of February.
They placed 3rd out of seven teams, which included teams from Minnesota, Colorado, Indiana, and New Jersey. The only other team from Kentucky was Lincoln County.
“Our overall score increased and we received another bid to UCA Nationals,” PCHS head coach Abby Belcher said., “Our score was 91.6, only .4 away from 2nd and 4.2 away from 1st.”
Coach Belcher said she is so proud of her team’s ability to overcome the various obstacles they encountered with Covid-19 isolations and winter weather to compete in their second virtual competition.
“We made a lot of changes to our routine after we received feedback from our first virtual competition, and the girls used that as a learning opportunity to become better,” Coach Belcher explained.
“The increase in our score and the overall comments on our routine performance continues to prove how much this team is growing,” she said.
The PCHS cheerleaders are looking forward to hearing from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) for a regional date to compete in Kentucky.
