Willard Eugene Prince, born on September 23, 1935 in Knox County, Kentucky to the late Millard (Crit) and Emma Prince, passed away peacefully in his Florida home on January 14, 2021 at the age of 85.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma (Daniels), his son, Willard E. Prince Jr, his sister Imogene (Johnny), and his brother, Ronnie Prince. Willard is survived by his sisters Wanda, Margie (Jack), Carol (Don), and Pam (Tom), his sister-in-law Judy, his grandchildren Nicole (Mike) and Kristina (Justin), his great-grandchildren Kendall and Caroline, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Willard was married in 1956 to his late wife Velma.
In 1957 he was called to serve his country in the US Army until 1959. After his time in the Army he worked for Container Corporation for 36 years and retired as a Supervisor in 1991.
In Willard’s spare time and after retirement, he enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Cumberland or the Indian River in FL. Willard could always be found puttering with a boat or lawn mower motor, mulching or mowing the yard, or assisting with a home project. His favorite pastime, though, was to sit outside enjoying a cigar.
Willard was a snowbird and split his time between Jasper Bend, Kentucky and Sebastian, Florida. Four years ago, Willard returned to Cincinnati to be closer to family and was being cared for by Jenny Young, his “adopted” Daughter-in Law-and Jonathan Haubner, nephew, and best friend.
Visitation took place on Friday, January 29 at Dobbling Funeral Home (106 S. Ft. Thomas Ave.) in Fort Thomas, KY.
Interment took place at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate, KY.
Contributions may be directed to the Cincinnati Honor Flight, 8627 Calumet Way, Cincinnati, OH 45249.
