The Pendleton County High School cheerleading team recently competed in their first virtual competition with Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) in the Varsity Game Day Division.
“It was probably the first virtual competition in the history of the program,” PC head coach Abby Belcher said.
“Anyone in the United States could enter in this competition,” Coach Belcher explained. “There were 96 entries, with only 7 teams including us from Kentucky.”
Pendleton County placed 3rd out of 5th and based on their score, they received a bid to the UCA Nationals, which is quite an accomplishment.
According to Coach Belcher, they competed against teams from several states, including Pennsylvania, Alabama, Tennessee, and Minnesota.
“One of which was a national champion last year at UCA and another one that placed 4th,” Coach Belcher said.
The Pendleton County cheerleading team plans to participate again in another virtual competition for UCA sometime this month. Stay tuned to the Outlook for more information on future competitions.
