Falmouth Rotary Club sends words of encouragment

Dear Editor:

    To the teachers and administrators.
    To the bus drivers.
    To the cooks and janitors.
    To the parents and caregivers.
To all involved in any way with the enterprise of education of the Pendleton County Schools.
It was prompted by speaker and Principal, Tony Dietrich, who was the guest speaker invited by Patrick Clore on October 19, 2020.
The Rotary Club listened with rapt attention as Principal Dietrich detailed the many obstacles which school personnel had overcome in order to have school this year; namely, the wearing and adjusting of masks, maintaining several feet of space among students, and the ever present admonition, “Did you wash your hands after touching anything that could be contaminated?”
Then teachers and students have had to struggle with “virtual” learning which some of us oldies only have a vague notion of what is involved. Something about a computer doing the teaching!
One partial bright spot: younger students appear to cope better with the virus than do older persons like teachers, bus drivers or custodians.
Someone asked Mr. Dietrich, “How many infections have your school had so far?” His reply “NONE!” We were restrained in our response, but there was some muted, “Hallelujahs!” and Jimmy Godman had to be restrained from dancing on a desk top!
Never in my life have I seen public schools so heavily bombarded with the power of the Devil! Lord, drive back the force of evil! Never have schools and their personnel been so hammered so hard.
One of the Falmouth Rotary’s members, a retired teacher, herself, said, “I am so moved. What can we do?
Let’s pray! Let’s encourage! Let’s support our schools.
