PC Football storms to a win

There was a storm brewing at Veterans Field on Friday night. In what was shaping up to be a tight game, Mother Nature put a halt on the festivities.
The Wildcats took home the 8-0 victory in rather unique fashion over Paris High School. After one quarter of slippery football, lightning began to strike around Menzie Bottoms as the heavy rains began to intensify. A severe weather delay ensued as fans, school staff, volunteers, players and coaches were required to exit the field and take refuge inside Phillip A. Sharp Middle School. Due to the poor weather and sloppy playing surface, the quarter of gameplay was filled with tight running plays and punting. Both teams played conservatively to avoid a potentially game-changing turnover.
The most important play of the game happened with three seconds left in the first quarter. The Wildcats had the ball near midfield. Junior Gary Baker took the snap under center, rushed to the left side of the line and threw a pitch to junior running back Oak Fields who carried the ball up the sideline for the only touchdown of the game. Considering how much of a factor the weather was, the touchdown came at a perfect time. Fields was able to convert the two-point conversion making the score 8-0.
