Coach Danielle French and the Ladycat Volleyball team had a great week as they went 3-0 over the past few days.
The Ladycats started on their roll facing Bracken County and coming away with a 3-0 win. Addyson Crouch bought the hammer serving 10 aces followed closely by Katelin Aulick who served eight of her own. The Ladycats ran out to the lead in all three sets allowing them to control the tempo and not feel the extra pressure of playing from behind. Allison Aulick led the team on the night with seven kills, and 11 digs.
Coach French said of her team’s performance, “Our serving was great the entire game. We did not miss one single serve and we played well together the entire time.”
Next up for the Ladycats was a match with Lady Bluejackets of Nicholas County. The two teams have played some very close contest over the past few seasons. Wednesday belonged to the Ladycats, however, as they stung the Bluejackets for three straight set wins. Katelin Aulick and Addyson Crouch teamed up for a combined 16 aces on the night with Jordan Kirsch adding five of her own as well as 21 assists.
Again the Ladycats were able to control the game by staying in the lead in each of the three sets. Coach French commented, “The girls played well together and are proving to be prepared for each game.”
Being in control on the scoreboard is a positive thing as the Ladycats ended the week by taking down Robertson County in three straight sets. The Ladycats hit a bit of a speed bump in the second set falling behind 10-1, but battled back to take the set in a close score of 25-23. The third set was never in doubt as the Ladycats cruised to a 25-7 win.
Olivia Verst had a great night as she ended with 10 serving points and 15 digs. Katelin Aulick was formidable again recording 10 serving points and 11 digs. Teammates Kylie Richardson, with six serving points and two kills, and Allison Aulick, eight kills and one solo block, also had strong games for the Ladycats.
Coach French was quick to acknowledge her young players, “Our underclassman really showed their potential in this game and their reliability when things aren’t going well. I am very proud of them.”
